Grand Welcome in Nigeria:
He received a thumping reception in Nigeria, his first visit to the West African nation. Chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Vande Mataram' welcomed him as he was being greeted by the Indian diaspora in Abuja. "Thank the people for this great welcome," said PM Modi while thanking them for not losing their culture and roots.
Strengthening India-Nigeria Ties:
This is the first visit by an Indian PM to Nigeria after 17 long years. In this regard, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu invited PM Modi; he was given the "Key to the City" upon his arrival at Abuja airport-a gesture and honor.
The purpose of the visit is to make strategic partnerships and cooperation better in the main sectors.
This visit falls under three-nation tour.
Nigerian is followed by Brazil-to attend the G20 Summit-and Guyana within the five-day trip held by Indian Prime Minister Modi. This further cements India's efforts towards a robust global connection and strengthens its bilateral ties with Nigeria.
